The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) visited the Parchin Military site southeast of Tehran on Sunday September 20.

IRNA reports that Yukiya Amano visited the base and observed the repair and reconstruction of the access roads to the Mamlo Dam.
Behrouz Kamalvandi, a spokesman for Iran’s atomic energy agency, said Amano’s visit to Parchin was a “formal visit”.
The Parchin military base was a contentious issue in the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5+1.
Previously, the IAEA had requested permission to visit and inspect the Parchin site on several occasions. Iranian authorities had declined the request, saying such inspections would compromise the country’s national security.
Amano was in Tehran for a one-day visit and also appeared in front of the parliamentary commission responsible for reviewing the nuclear deal. He also met with the Iranian president and foreign minister.
