One hundred workers from the Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine protested in front of the Ministry of Industry and Mining building in Tehran on Tuesday September 8 for the fourth day in a row.
ILNA reports that the workers are protesting the company’s refusal to offer contracts longer than two months as well as the low pay and reduced benefits they receive compared to the rest of the workers.
The same workers held similar protests in Tehran in August. The reported failure of the minister of industry to live up to his promises has brought them back to Tehran, where they have been sitting in protest in front of the ministry since Saturday September 5.
The workers allege that company representatives have been behaving inappropriately during negotiations, which have not yielded any results.
