Iranian political prisoner Saeed Matinpour was released from Evin Prison on Wednesday August 26.

The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports that Matinpour was released after invoking Article 134 of the Islamic penal code, which indicates that when an individual is sentenced for up to three offences, he will only serve the longest sentence.
Matinpour was arrested in 2009 and sentenced to eight years in jail for propaganda against the regime and links to aliens. He reportedly spent seven months in solitary in Zanjan Prison and his trial lasted only a few minutes.
Matinpour did work for a number of magazines and local Azerbaijani newspapers.
