A heat wave in Dehloran, Ilam has forced the province to issue a state of emergency as temperatures have climbed past 51 degrees centigrade.
The Fars News Agency reports that according to Dehloran officials, 350 people have already reported to hospital emergency wards for heat-related complications.
City officials have also called on the public to try and remain indoors to avoid adverse health effects from the severe heat and dust.
Reports indicate that water air conditioners are no longer effective in dealing with the high temperatures and many of them are burnt out.
Meanwhile, Red Crescent emergency kiosks have been stationed at various spots in the city to provide emergency services to the public.
Average temperatures in many Iranian cities has reached above 40 degrees and caused high power usage, which according to the ministry of power will result in sporadic power outages during the day.
