Iranian MPs maintain that corruption at the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs when former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was in office was even greater than the corruption at the office of the Social Security Fund under Saeed Mortazavi.

Boniad-Shahid

Mortazavi is charged with the illegal sale of 138 subsidiaries of the Social Security Fund to Babak Zanjani, the Iranian tycoon who is currently in jail for fraud and embezzlement charges.

Mortazavi is also charged with giving bribes to 37 MPs totaling 133.5 million toumans.

However, MPs are now saying corruption at the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs was even greater.

The Shargh daily reported on Thursday May 28 that the reading of the report on the probe into the the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs has been continually delayed in Parliament.

The Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs is a government organization that is in charge of giving service to the families of those killed or wounded during the 1979 Revolution and the Iran/Iraq War of the 1980s.
