Iran’s Ministry of Education says it has written to the judiciary to call for a general pardon of all jailed teachers.

Mostafa Nasseri Zanjani, the education ministry’s legal advisor, told ILNA that a letter was sent by Education Minister Ali Asghar Fani on Wednesday May 27, adding that the ministry is trying to secure the release of all jailed teachers.
Iranian teachers across the country have been staging demonstrations to protest their low wages and to demand the release of their colleagues.
A number of teachers have been arrested during those protests. Teachers across the country want increased wages that would put them on par with other government employees.
