Mohammad Javad Zarif, who was in Astana, Kazakhstan, held a joint news conference with his Kazakh counterpart, saying Iran can take an active role in facilitating the “process of political transition in Yemen”.
Zarif also travelled to Oman and Pakistan to discuss the crisis in Yemen.
In Pakistan, Zarif proposed a four-step solution to the crisis: a ceasefire, the provision of humanitarian aid, dialogue among the different political groups, and the formation of an inclusive government.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and its allies have been carrying out air raids on Yemen for two weeks.
Although Iran has called for an end to the air strikes, Saudi Arabia maintains that it is acting at the request of the country’s legitimate government and Iran should not meddle in Yemen’s internal affairs.
