Iran’s defence minister has slammed his U.S. counterpart, Ashton Carter, for statements regarding the nuclear negotiations, saying Carter’s only aim was to disrupt the “rational atmosphere” of the talks.
IRNA reports that according to Hossein Dehghan, Carter’s statements are “hollow and meaningless”, which assures that they will not affect Iran’s “rational, logical and fair” stance in the nuclear negotiations.
In a recent interview with NBC, U.S. Defence Secretary Carter spoke about the ongoing nuclear negotiations, emphasizing that “The military option certainly will remain on the table.”
Iran’s defence minister stressed that Carter’s statements validate Iran’s lack of faith in the United States. Dehghan added that Iran is prepared to face any aggression from its enemies.
Iran’s Deputy head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Massoud Jazaer, also reacted to Carter’s statements, saying the U.S. military option “has long been rotting away” and adding that military option is always available to all states.
