Ahmad Ronaghi Maleki, the father of jailed blogger Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, has threatened to set himself on fire in front of the prosecutor’s office in Tehran if the authorities refuse to release his son for necessary medical care.
The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reports that Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, who had been released last August for medical reasons, was once again recalled to prison on March 1.
The family is concerned that his kidney and prostate problems will be further aggravated.
Ahmad Ronaghi Maleki reports that the Coroner’s Commission has issued three orders saying his son is unable to endure imprisonment due to his health complications and should not be returned to prison. However, the authorities have arrested him claiming his is “planning to leave the country”.
Maleki Ronaghi was arrested in 2010 in the mass round-up of election protesters. He was released 32 months later, after several hunger strikes, on bail a million toumans. He was arrested again for joining an independent aid group offering relief after the earthquake in Azerbaijan. He was finally released last August but has now been returned again to Evin Prison.
