Iran’s Supreme Leader says even if the nuclear dispute proceeds exactly as “they dictate, sanctions will still not be lifted”.
In a speech on Wednesday February 18, Ayatollah Khamenei said: “The enemy is taking maximum advantage of its sanctions tactic. They are trying to stop the people. I believe that even if the nuclear issues proceed as they dictate, sanctions will not be lifted because they are against the principle of the Revolution.”
He stressed that there is need for decisive action to resist the sanctions. “If we do not resist, the enemies start imposing every condition on our nuclear program and impose sanctions,” he said.
Iran is engaged in nuclear negotiations with the 5+1, and both sides have said that this is a historic chance to resolve the nuclear disputes.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that a significant step in resisting sanctions is overcoming the dependence on oil revenues by relying more on tax revenues
