The Iranian ambassador to Russia says the Mir Business Bank and the Melli Bank will cooperate in order to facilitate business transactions between the two countries.
Iranian ambassador Mehdi Sanayi said coordination between the two countries’ chambers of commerce has yielded decisions regarding the improvement of trade, obtaining a visa and transporting goods.
Tasnim quoted Sanayi on Tuesday February 3 saying entrepreneurs on both sides can resolve their money and credit problems through the coordination of the two banks.
Iran’s petrochemical industry representatives reported earlier that Russia is interested in getting involved in the development of petrochemical products in southern Iran.
The news of this anticipated cooperation followed a visit to Russia by Ali Akbar Velyati, the Iranian Supreme Leader’s adviser on foreign affairs, who met with the Russian ministers of energy and foreign affairs as well as President Vladimir Putin.
Iranian media reported that as a result of Velayati’s trip, the two countries reached agreement about improving economic relations and developing rail transport, Iranian imports to Russia, economic cooperation around marine life and the establishment of six thermal power plants in Iran.
