A group of dentistry graduates gathered in front of Parliament on Tuesday December 30 to protest the newly implemented placement tests for foreign-trained dentists.
Khaneh Mellat reports that foreign-trained dentistry graduates used to be accepted for graduate spots in the country but now they have to undergo a placement test and then get the top spots according to their test results.
The new placement guidelines require foreign-trained dentists to undergo another test before entering graduate programs in the country.
Iska News reports that a significant number of protesters appeared in front of the Parliament and demanded that MPs attend to their concerns.
A similar protest was staged in November in front of the Ministry of Health headquarters.
The Ministry of Health says there needs to be regulated control of the level of expertise foreign-trained dentists have reached before placement.
