The head of Iranian border security announced that “three terrorists” were arrested near the country’s northwest border.
The Fars News Agency reported the news on Wednesday December 24, adding that the detainees were carrying explosives.
Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi also announced the arrests, saying the three detainees were “leaders of terrorist groups”.
He said they had plans to carry out “suicide attacks” among the religious delegations in Tehran at the end of the month of Safar.
No more details have been released regarding the identity of the individuals or the exact location of their arrest.
