Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has reported to Parliament on the nuclear talks with the 5+1. On Saturday November 29, Zarif appeared in Parliament to report on the details of the talks and respond to a number of questions from MPs.
A parliamentary spokesman reported that at the end of the sessions, members announced their support for the extension of the talks, saying “as long as the main issues and the red lines are observed, the talks will have the support of Parliament.”
Last week, the parties agreed to extend the nuclear negotiations for another eight months.
Parliament has often been critical of the negotiating team, raising alarms that they may be conceding too much to the world powers during the talks.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, however, announced his support for the team a few days ago, which has translated into widespread support for Zarif’s efforts.
