Iran's first Annual Environmental Book Fair opened on Sunday November 16 in Tehran with a goal of promoting and honouring writers, translators and publishers who are active in this field.
Judges at the fair considered more than 300 books in 99 specialized fields, including children’s and young readers’ books, and prizes were awarded at the Department of the Environment meeting facilities at Pardisan Park.
Hadi Khatami won the first prize for his book Water Quality Evaluation, and Henrik Majnonian won first prize in the marine environmental research section with his book Management Plans for Protected Coastal-Marine Areas.
The Call of the Cheetah by Ali Golshan won the children’s section award, while several publishers and translators also received prizes for embracing the subject of the environment.
The Department of the Environment expressed hope that the festival will lead to more investment in researching and publishing material regarding the environment to promote a greater public awareness of environmental issues.
