One hundred days into the arrest of Jason Rezaian, there have been new separate appeals by the US government and his family to release the Washington Post journalist.

Jason Rezaian was arrested on July 22 at his home in Tehran along with his wife and two other individuals. The two detainees and his wife Yeganeh Salehi were later released on bail but Rezaian remains in custody.

Jen Psaki, spokesperson for the US State Department made an appeal on the hundredth day of Rezaian's arrest and also urged the Islamic Republic to release the other two Iranian-US citizens in in jail in Iran: Saeed Abedini, A Christian convert and priest, and Amir Hekmati, a former US marine.

In the latest statement regarding Jason Rezaian, Iranian Human Rights Commissioner Mohammad Javad Larijani was quoted as saying that as a journalist Rezaian "has done certain things that, from the perspective of the Ministry of Intelligence, go beyond journalism."
