Two hundred employees and retirees of the Mazandaran Textile Company gathered in Protest in front of Mazandaran Governor`s Office on Tuesday October 21 to demands payment of their overdue wages and benefits.
In May the workers took their protests to Parliament and the ministries of industry and labour, and were promised by government officials that their demands would be met.
Now that five months have passed with those promises going unfulfilled, the workers are once again trying to have their voices heard.
A workers' spokesman Mohammad Nobakht told ILNA that the president had delegated the matter to the ministries of industry and labour, but so far they have failed to resolve it. He adds that the workers and their families are in dire straits as they continue without pay.
The report indicates that the company owes workers over 15 billion toumans in wages and benefits.
