MirHosein Mousavi, an Iranian opposition leader who has been under house arrest since February of 2011, has reportedly undergone eye surgery.
A report on the Kaleme website indicates that on Saturday September 20, he was transferred to a specialized health centre with his wife, Zahra Rahnavard, but their daughters were not allowed to be present.
No details has been released about why surgery was necessary; however, Kaleme indicates that MirHosein Mousavi’s physicians had recommended surgery two months ago.
According to Kaleme, Rahnavard is also in need of a similar surgery, but so far there has been no preparation for it.
Mousavi and Rahnavard have been under house arrest for over three years for challenging the results of the 2009 presidential election and triggering widespread street demonstrations. The other reformist presidential candidate, Mehdi Karroubi, has also been under house arrest since then.
