Iran’s Ministry of Health says half of the country’s hospitals are worn out and in need of significant upgrades. Health Minister Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi said most of these hospitals are more than 50 years old and it will require more private sector participation in the delivery of services to solve that problem.
ILNA reports that according to the health minister, the public will in no way be affected by the private sector’s participation, and payments for services will continue to fall under government guidelines.
According to the health minister, the inclusion of the private sector will improve health services without straining the ministry budget.
