Forty-three young men and women were arrested at a party in the coastal city of Khezershahr in Mazandaran. The Shahrvand daily reported on Sunday September 7 that the 27 women and 16 men had “met through Facebook” and arrived at Khezershahr from various Iranian cities to celebrate a birthday in one of the villas.
The report adds that 50 bottles of alcoholic beverages were found on the premises and the average age of the detainees was 22.
The local police say they followed leads to a “mixed gender party” where they arrested all the guests.
The police add that they confiscated a number of luxury cars and 70 litres of alcoholic beverages.
The 27 women have been sent to Babol prison and the 16 men are still awaiting the court’s verdict.
