Iran’s volleyball team beat Belgium 3-1 in the FIVB Volleyball Championships, securing its place in the next round of competition.
Iran had already defeated the U.S. and Italy in Group 4, losing only to France, which is now at the top of Group 4 and will also proceed to the next round. Iran is set to play Puerto Rico in the last game of the first round on Sunday night.
There are 24 teams competing in the first round, and the four top teams from each group will proceed to the next round.
That round begins on Wednesday September 10, with teams competing in two groups for six days.
Iran will face seven teams in the next round. So far they include France, Poland, Serbia and Argentina.
