Iran’s senior nuclear negotiator Abbas Araghchi told reporters that talks conducted between Iranian and U.S. representatives on Thursday and Friday were “useful” and he expressed optimism that the two sides can resolve their differences.
Araghchi told IRNA on September 6 about the talks with the U.S.: “We hope that they will be helpful in resolving differences.” He added, however, that there are still several issues to be resolved.”
“We still have deep differences between the negotiating parties,” Araghchi said, mentioning the number of centrifuges and the issue of sanctions as outstanding issues.
Araghchi led a group of Iranian nuclear negotiators in a meeting with U.S. State Department representatives that’s meant to supplement the nuclear talks with the world powers.
