Mehdi Mahmoudian, a reformist journalist, was released from Karaj’s Rejaishahr Prison at the end of his sentence.
Kaleme website reports that Mahmoudian was to be released on August 21 but prison authorities held him longer to make up 12 days of temporary leave granted to him during his imprisonment.
Mahmoudian,who is a member of the major reformist party the Islamic Iran Participation Front, was one of the chief reporters on the arrest and torture of election protesters of 2009 at Kahrizak Prison.
Mahmoudian was arrested in September of 2009 and sentenced to five years in jail for “assembly and collusion against the regime.”
