ILNA reports that on Saturday August 9, 500 workers from the Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane Company staged a protest against the non-payment of back wages.
The workers are from various departments in the factory, including agriculture, engineering, maintenance, research, accounting and administration.
The report indicates that Haft Tapeh employs close to 1,000 workers, half of whom gathered in protest in front of the company's administrative headquarters.
Workers also report persistent problems with payments into their benefit plans.
