Paridokht Najafi has become the first female appointee to the position of prefect in Ilam Province.
Ilam Governor Mohammdreza Morvarid appointed Najafi as the Prefect of Eyvan, ISNA reported on Monday July 28.
Prior to this appointment, Najafi was deputy prefect of Eyvan for women’s affairs.
The Rohani administration has been trying to appoint more women to leadership positions.
In recent months, several women have been named as prefects or governors in Qeshm, Hamoon, Qasreqand and Bandar Torkman, Bushehr and Rasht.
