Three days after a campaign was established to support Gonabadi Dervishes, 600 dervishes from across the country have reportedly registered their names to take part. The campaign, known as Kooch, was launched on the Majzooban Noor website, which reports on Gonabadi Dervishes and their treatment.
In recent years in Iran, many dervishes have been targeted with arrests and heavy prison terms. Some have gone on hunger strikes to protest their situation, and many supporters have expressed their solidarity with the dervishes through demonstrations and gatherings at the prisons where they are held.
There are currently at least 13 dervishes in Iranian prisons, and their lawyers have tried to enlist the support of President Rohani to secure their release.
