Iran’s population has reached 78 million, with an increase of 333, 669 people in the past six months.
IRNA reports that the head of Iran’s Census Bureau released the latest report on Tuesday July 15, saying: “70 percent of the population is now between the ages of 15 and 64, which is the age group considered working and active.”
Iran’s Supreme Leader has reversed his earlier recommendations for population control, saying the country’s population should increase.
The Iranian government is now in the process of overhauling its population-control policies and reversing them to encourage citizens to have larger families.
