IRNA reports that Zarif ran into Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday September 28 as he was leaving the UN building after President Rohani’s speech.

The news has also been confirmed by an unidentified U.S. official, according to Bloomberg.
There are no reports regarding the content of their exchange.

Iran and the United States have had no diplomatic relations since 1979. Two years ago, Obama made an unprecedented gesture by placing a telephone call to the Iranian president when Hassan Rohani was in New York to attend the UN General Assembly. Rohani received serious criticism from conservative factions of the Islamic Republic upon his return to Iran.
