ISNA reports that Zanjani was brought to court under strict security measures on Saturday October 3, adding that his lawyer and two sisters were present in court.

The spokesman for the judiciary had announced earlier that the file consists of 209 volumes with a total of 40,000 pages.

Zanjani’s lawyer told the Shargh daily that his client has been in solitary confinement for the past 22 months.

He denied all charges against Zanjani, saying his client has “served his country” by circumventing sanctions to sell oil.

Zanjani is accused of failing to pay the oil ministry 8.6 trillion toumans from the sale of oil.
