All rice cultivation in Sistan-Baluchistan was shut down after the province registered as the area with the lowest rainfall this year.

The Asr-e Hamoon website reports that continued drought has been a serious blow to agriculture in Sistan-Baluchistan.

Agriculture is now deemed to be unsustainable, even though the majority of the province’s residents are engaged in that industry.

According to the latest statement by the Ministry of Culture, rice cultivation has been banned in 14 of the 16 rice-producing provinces due to lack of rainfall.

Asr-e Hamoon website writes that rice cultivation will be replaced by a different crop.

Golestan province also reports that rice cultivation has been banned in the province because it requires so much water and precipitation continues to decline.
