Mohammadreza Rostami told ISNA that the ministry’s recently established Youth Committee has prepared a report about the tastes and trends of Iranians using Facebook and other social media. The information will be sold to companies interested in familiarizing themselves with the interests of Iranian internet users, Rostami told ISNA.

The nine hours of daily Facebook use by Iranians is despite the fact that Facebook is filtered by Iranian authorities and users in Iran cannot access it without proxies used to break through such blocks.

Rostami added that despite the growing use of the internet in Iran, there have been no studies regarding the phenomenon of internet addiction, and he stressed that school-age children spend disproportionately more time on social media.
Rostami did not explain how data was collected for the ministry report.
