Reformists have won all top spots in the list of elected MPs from Tehran, and the public was looking forward to celebrating the victory in the streets of Tehran.

However, a spokesman for the Moderation and Development Party, which is linked to the Rohani administration, announced that in view of the Shia period of Fatemieh, there are no current plans for a celebration.

Aref, whose parliamentary campaign received the highest number of votes in Tehran, said in view of the religious period of Fatemieh, there will be no victory parties for his supporters, adding that celebrations may be held at a later date.

Fatemieh is a 20-day period of mourning continuing through the next two weeks.
