The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports that on Sunday June 21, Esmail Abdi’s passport was confiscated as he tried to travel to Armenia and he was prevented from leaving the country.

Adbi has been told to report to the prosecutor’s office on Wednesday June 24.

Abdi was arrested during election protests in 2009 and was detained for 44 days in Evin Prison. He was sentenced to 10 years in jail for propaganda against the regime but the sentence was suspended for five of those years.

In recent months, teachers all across the country have been protesting against their low wages and demanding to be paid more in line with other public employees.
