The coroner for Tehran Province reports that in the past 12 months, 272 workers died in workplace accidents.
ILNA reports that the Tehran Coroner’s office reported on February 28 that this number, which included 268 men and four women, represented a 30-percent decline in workplace deaths from last year.
Reports from last year indicate 392 workers in Tehran died in workplace accidents.
The statistics do not include all accidents, since many go unreported due to the use of illegal workers or the absence of adequate work insurance.
Falls from heights, burns, and asphyxiation are among the top causes of workplace deaths.
