Two miners were killed in an accident at the Manganese Mine near Qom on Sunday March1. ILNA reports that the accident occurred at a depth of 300 metres and left two other workers seriously injured.
The head of Emergency Services told ILNA that one of the injured miners was airlifted to a hospital in Qom and the other, who suffered from heart complications, has been transferred to hospital by ambulance.
The Manganese Mine, which is considered the larges manganese mine in the Middle East, is located 28 kilometres from Qom.
No other details have been released about the accident and its cause.
Last week, another workplace accident in Isfahan left eight workers dead. Workplace safety has become a serious concern in Iran with continued reports of workers getting killed or gravely injured in the course of their employment.
