Ali Akbar Salehi

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi slammed allegations by the International Atomic Energy Agency that Iran is pursuing military ends with its nuclear program.

Salehi reacted to news that the IAEA intends to publish documents indicating a possible military direction for Iran’s nuclear program, saying any such documents would be “fabricated” and adding: “I believe such documents are baseless, so they may as well publish them so we have it out, once and for all.”

ISNA reports that in a joint press conference with the Burundi foreign minister, Salehi said: “Since the IAEA leadership changed hands, its politics has taken a different turn, and now they claim they want to publish some documents. Let them do so because we already know the truth.”

Iran has repeatedly maintained that its nuclear program is peaceful.

The IAEA announced today that it intends to publish certain documents to show the “military objectives” of Iran’s nuclear program.

The Associated Press cited some Western diplomats saying a report showing computer models of nuclear warheads is to be published next week.
