MirHosein Mousavi

Mousavi’s physician has warned against interrupting his medical treatment. In an interview with the Kaleme website on Saturday March 10, his physician expressed concern regarding the opposition leader’s health, saying: “The required treatment for Mr. Mousavi’s medical problems is clear and can be done very easily.”

He expressed concern, however, that: “His treatment is being neglected and there is no effort to follow up on it.”

His physician added that the authorities are not willing to transfer the opposition leader to a hospital.

MirHosein Mousavi and his wife have been under house arrest since February of 2011 and they are completely cut off from the outside world.

The authorities cite their role in inciting the election protests of 2009, which were spurred on by allegations of vote fraud, as the reason for their situation, but the opposition figures have never been officially charged with any offence or stood trial.
