Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) reports that armed assailants killed three Revolutionary Guards officers in the southwestern province of Sistan-Baluchistan.

IRNA reports that according to the IRGC accounts, assailants cut off an IRGC vehicle and shot at the three IRGC members before escaping into Pakistani territory.

In December, Iran signed an agreement with Pakistan allowing Iranian forces to enter Pakistani territory as a measure for pursuing "dangerous criminals".

Mohammad Hassan Asferi, a member of Iran's National security Commission of parliament, said: "Since terrorists escape to Pakistani territory after carrying out terrorist activities, creating a security circle could be very helpful."

In recent years, there have been many violent attacks on Iranian border officials in the Sistan-Baluchistan region near the border with Pakistan.
