Hootan Dowlati, a political prisoner in Ward 350 of Evin Prison, was released on Saturday September 6. Kaleme reports that Dowlati, a member of the Iranian National Front political party, has been in jail for the past year and a half without any furloughs.

He was arrested in March of 2012 and charged with “membership in the National Front, propaganda against the regime and making a documentary for the Iran-e Farda television network.”

Dowlati was sentenced to three years in jail, but that sentence was cut in half in the appellate court.

He has also banned from any internet activity or membership in a political party for five years.
