Yukiya Amano

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency believes that the new Iranian administration is willing to address international concerns about its nuclear program.

Yukiya Amano spoke on Friday at the Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars in Washington, saying that his meeting in Vienna with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was “very productive” and that “there is some substance in the new proposal” from Iran.

The two sides have agreed to hold the next round of expert-level talks in Tehran on November 11.

Iran’s new president, Hassan Rohani, has expressed hope and determination to resolve the nuclear disputes within six months.
